Here’s to my first Hoya bloom! My first several, actually! 🤗🥹👏🏼

And thanks to Becca for indirectly making me look…out of jealousy. 😅

DON’T COME AT ME!

It had to be done, for my mental sanity! 🥲😅

Repotting cacti isn’t for the weak! But I love them, so they’re worth it.😅

Also, please go follow .collc because she’s my very favorite.

Sometimes you just have to commit. 😅

It’ll look so much better when it’s a pot full of color and lusciousness.

Sometimes my curiosity gets the best of me and I need to go diggin’ for corms.

A corm is a short, swollen underground plant stem that stores energy and helps the plant survive dormancy l. Unlike a bulb, it’s solid inside and acts like a little backup battery for regrowth and new planty babies!

Corms are commonly found in Alocasia and Colocasia (and a few others)! Happy hunting!

For science! Godspeed! 🫡🫢

Step 1: Find those thicc aerial roots and direct them into the moss.

Step 2: Velcro the plant stem against the moss pole to ensure that it stays in place.

Step 3: Keep your moss moist. You don’t want to water it too often and get rot within your soil roots, so you don’t always need to saturate it entirely. But at the very least, moisten it as often as you water your plant.

This is what works for me, but everyone does it differently, so figure out what works best for you and have fun! 🤗

I have tried a few different kinds of moss poles and the truth is, you don’t know what you like/dislike until you try different options.

Initially, these moss poles solved my existing problem with the solid back all the way up, so it keeps the roots contained.

But then I noticed once they were stacked, they were so heavy they’d lean heavily in one direction.

AND THEN I went to trim one of my plants and getting the roots out was a NIGHTMARE. These moss poles aren’t cheap, so cutting them up wasn’t a plan I had. But, that’s what had to happen.

So for that reason + the balance issue, I’d highly recommend the thinner and lighter plastic for moss poles.

Hope this helps!

Cover pots really are beautiful — there’s no doubt about that. They add pizzaz to your plant! BUT the caveat, especially outdoors, is you need to be mindful of rain (in addition to your watering schedule).

If it’s not hot enough for the water to quickly evaporate, (and sometimes even THAT doesn’t make a difference), you need to remove cover pots for outdoor plants.

The exception to this is
A) if you have them in a covered area
B) you bring your plants in when it rains

Happy planting! 🥰🪴
