Garden Updates | What's Growing Lately 🌱

One of the sweetest parts of gardening is noticing the little changes.

A tiny tomato becomes a full cluster. A flower turns into a pepper. An eggplant appears where there was only a blossom a few days before.

These past weeks, the garden has been full of exciting signs that the season is moving right along.

🍅 Several varieties of tomatoes
🌶️ Scotch bonnet peppers, Thai chili peppers, and jalapeños
🍆 Purple and white eggplants
🥬 Beautiful speckled lettuce
🍓 Sweet strawberries

Every visit to the garden reminds us that growth isn't rushed. It comes from showing up, caring for what you've planted, and trusting the process.

Sometimes the biggest changes happen so quietly that you only notice them when you stop and look.

What are you growing this season? We'd love to hear what's happening in your garden. 🌿

A healthy garden isn't measured only by what you harvest.

It's easy to celebrate baskets full of fresh vegetables or beautiful blooms, but some of the most meaningful signs of a healthy garden happen long before harvest day.

Healthy soil that feels alive beneath your hands. Bees and butterflies stopping by to visit. Fresh new leaves reaching toward the sun. These quiet moments remind us that a thriving garden is built one small step at a time.

Gardening has a wonderful way of teaching patience. It reminds us that healthy growth isn't always immediate or obvious. Sometimes the most important work is happening below the surface, where roots are growing stronger and the foundation is being built.

As gardeners, it's worth taking a moment to notice these little signs. They tell us our garden is moving in the right direction, even if the harvest is still weeks away.

Swipe through to discover 5 signs your garden is healthy beyond a big harvest. 🌱

Which sign have you noticed in your garden recently? We'd love to hear about it in the comments. 💚

Every garden begins with believing something can grow. 🌱

Every flourishing garden starts with hope.

Before the blooms, before the harvest, and before the beauty, there is simply a seed and someone willing to believe in what it could become.

Gardening reminds us that growth takes patience, care, and faith. The same is true for our dreams, our relationships, and ourselves.

Whether you're planting flowers, vegetables, or new possibilities in your life, remember this:

Every garden begins with believing something can grow. 💚

What does food freedom really mean? 🌿

When people hear the phrase food freedom, they often imagine having to grow everything they eat.

But that's not what it means.

Food freedom is about having the knowledge, confidence, and opportunity to grow some of your own food, no matter how big or small your garden may be.

It might begin with a single pot of herbs on your windowsill.

A tomato plant in your backyard.

Or your very first raised bed.

Every seed you plant helps you build skills, reconnect with the seasons, and develop a deeper appreciation for the food that nourishes you.

It's not about becoming completely self-sufficient overnight.

It's about taking one small step toward a healthier, more sustainable way of living.

Because every garden grows more than food.

It grows confidence, resilience, and a deeper connection to the earth.

🌿 What does food freedom mean to you? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

Every season in the garden teaches us something new.

💚We learn patience while waiting for seeds to sprout.
💚We learn resilience when a crop doesn't go as planned.
💚We learn gratitude for every harvest, whether it's a single tomato or a basket overflowing with vegetables.

Over time, we realize something beautiful:

The garden isn't only growing food. It's growing us.

It shapes the way we think, slows us down, reminds us to pay attention, and reconnects us with the rhythms of nature. It teaches us that growth doesn't happen overnight, and neither do the most meaningful things in life.

Perhaps that's one of the greatest gifts of gardening.

Not just the harvest we bring into our kitchens, but the person we become along the way.

🌿 How has gardening changed you? We'd love to hear your story in the comments.

You don't need acres to grow a meaningful garden.

One of the most common misconceptions we hear is:
"I don't have enough space to grow my own food."

The truth is, a meaningful garden isn't defined by its size. It's defined by its purpose.

Some of the most productive gardens begin with a single raised bed, a few grow bags, or a handful of containers on a sunny patio. What matters most is creating a space that works for your lifestyle and growing food that you and your family will actually enjoy eating.

Sustainability isn't about growing everything.
It's about growing intentionally.

When we choose to grow even a portion of our own food, we're reducing food miles, becoming more connected to the seasons, learning where our food comes from, and building skills that can serve us for a lifetime.

Whether you harvest one tomato or a basket full of vegetables, every harvest is a reminder that food freedom begins one seed at a time.

Your garden doesn't have to look like anyone else's.

It simply needs to grow with you.

🌿 What would you plant first if you were starting a garden today? I'd love to hear your answer in the comments.

Have you ever met borage? 💙

At first glance, it's easy to fall in love with its delicate blue, star-shaped flowers. But this beautiful plant is so much more than a pretty face in the garden.

Also known as starflower (Borago officinalis), borage has earned its place as one of my favorite companion plants because of everything it quietly contributes to a healthy garden ecosystem.

Here are a few reasons why I love growing it:

⭐ Its flowers really do look like little blue stars, which is where it gets the name starflower.

🐝 Bees absolutely love it. Borage produces nectar generously over a long flowering season, making it a wonderful plant for supporting pollinators.

🪴 It's a fantastic companion plant. Many gardeners grow it near tomatoes, strawberries, and other vegetables because its flowers attract pollinators and beneficial insects that help create a healthier, more balanced garden.

🐞 It welcomes more than just bees. Hoverflies and other beneficial insects are also drawn to borage, helping increase biodiversity in the garden.

🥒 The young leaves and flowers have a mild cucumber-like flavor, making them a unique edible addition to salads and refreshing drinks.

💙 The flowers are edible, too! They make beautiful garnishes for salads, desserts, mocktails, or even floral ice cubes for special gatherings around the table.

🌸 One of my favorite little surprises: the flowers often begin with a soft pink hue before maturing into their brilliant blue color.

🌱 Once established, borage often returns on its own by self-seeding. Some gardeners love the surprise volunteers each season… others spend a little time relocating them. 😊

🌿 Give it room to grow. A healthy borage plant can reach about 2 to 3 feet tall and wide.

🌾 Those fuzzy leaves are completely natural. The entire plant is covered in tiny hairs, which is why mature leaves are much rougher than the young edible ones.

🌍 Originally native to the Mediterranean region, borage has found its way into gardens around the world because of its beauty, versatility, and incredible value to pollinators.

Every plant has a purpose.

Borage reminds us that beauty and function can grow side by side, nourishing not only our gardens, but the living creatures that help them thrive.

Have you ever grown borage? I'd love to hear your experience below. 🌿

Dear Garden Friends,

Sometimes a change in plans gives us the opportunity to create something even more beautiful.

We’re excited to officially announce that The Harvest: An Interlude in Bloom has been rescheduled for Saturday, September 19th, and we’ve decided not to simply move the date. We’re expanding the experience.

Those who purchased tickets for our July 18th gathering will have their tickets honored for this special evening as we bring our community back together at Constantina’s Abundant Acres for a bigger celebration of food, art, music, nature, and connection.

You can expect the elements you were looking forward to: a beautiful farm-to-table dining experience, a thoughtfully curated atmosphere, and time together in the garden, along with some special additions.

This time, we’ll welcome both a featured artist and a gong experience, closing the evening together with sound, reflection, and intention beneath the late-summer sky.

And because September gives the garden a completely different personality, you’ll also get to experience the farm during one of my favorite times… when everything we’ve planted, nurtured, and waited for has had time to come into its fullness.

Saturday, September 19th
Constantina’s Abundant Acres

More details and the full experience will be shared soon.

If you already purchased a ticket for July 18th, there is nothing you need to do. Your ticket will automatically transfer to the September 19th experience.

Thank you for your patience, your flexibility, and most importantly, for believing in what we are creating here.

We may have had to wait a little longer for The Harvest…

…but perhaps that makes the harvest even sweeter.

Constantina
