This crane and its mate hang out at the water every morning fishing. They used to fly away when we came around, but now they just watch us and stay. Such a graceful creature!!!

Good Tuesday morning!!!! Sunrise is the best part of the day. Do you remember the old adage "Early to bed, early to rise, makes one healthy, wealthy, and wise"? I like rising when my body is ready, and sometimes it's ready very early, and sometimes not. But I have been going to bed earlier than I used to - which is a good thing! How about you?

The fire ban is in effect now here in the Sequoia National Forest. That includes every campground around the lake, upriver, downriver, the Western Divide area, and all BLM land. We tell all of our campers as they check-in. Also, you can't miss this big sign, and yet people tried it last night at 1 am! 🙄🤣 Don't mind us if we're a bit grumpy today. 😑🙅🏾‍♀️ Don't do it, it's a $5k fine and some time...

We got in the lake to help cool us off in the heat! It felt so good. There's nothing like dipping your feet in ice cold water on a boiling hot day.
We also had the first snake sighting of the season!
