We love this image taken by Yvette Freeman at ShutterFest 2025! 🎡 About the image:

This was a collaborative shoot with Soul Peace, a phenomenal and gorgeous model, and two other photographers - Andrea Murray and Suzanne Claire. We knew we wanted to shoot by the trains, and I specifically wanted to incorporate the ferris wheel as a visual element. We had no idea what Soul would show up wearing for our shoot, but we were very happy to see that she came prepared to slay in her own red dress, heels, and signature ‘fro, which made her stand out from every other model at ShutterFest. Lighting consisted of just two ice lights: one placed on the train door, and one as the key light camera left.

Part 2 - behind the scenes with Stacy Kennedy , Bridgette Kelly , Jean Carlo and model Morgan Ghys at ShutterFest 2025! About the image:

This shot was a full team effort. Bridgette Kelly—my partner in crime and the other photographer on this shoot—and I work insanely well together. We bounce ideas off each other constantly, and this was no different. We were all scouting for a location that worked with Morgan’s outfit when Jean Carlo suggested this spot. It was already dark, so we added some light to bring the scene to life and play off the tones in her floral jacket—we lit the building with a pink gel (not sure who tossed out that idea, but it worked!). The key light is my usual go-to placement to get those soft shadows and clean catchlights in the eyes. Morgan nailed the pose (as she always does), and all I had to say was, “Look toward the light.” Big shoutout to Morgan’s parents for being the best gear guards and behind-the-scenes video crew. Solid team win all around.
