3 defending state champions and 1 state runner-up lost in week 1

The most disappointing thing about week 1 in high school football…the two teams with the longest losing streaks in the state didn’t play a game! With a combined 81 straight losses they could have played and ended one of those losing streaks.

Southwood Cowboys - 46 game losing streak
Plain Dealing Lions - 35 game losing streak

Southwood was scheduled to be off Week 1, and Plain Dealing was off week 1 because they were scheduled to play Tensas, who discontinued football after last year. They’re 46 miles apart. I just wish this could’ve happened.
