ICE STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 7 AM EST THURSDAY

* WHAT...Significant icing expected. Total snow and sleet
accumulations of around an inch and ice accumulations of up to
three tenths of an inch.

* WHERE...Lucas, Ottawa, and Wood Counties.

* WHEN...From 1 PM this afternoon to 7 AM EST Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice.
Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could
impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A light wintry mix of snow, sleet, and
freezing rain are possible this afternoon. The heaviest
precipitation will occur this evening as precipitation transitions
to primarily freezing rain. Surfaces will rapidly become icy.
Winds will tend to be light tonight with westerly winds gusting to
30 mph during the day on Thursday.

02/11/2025

This next storm will be a tricky one to forecast as we will be right on the cutoff line between freezing rain/sleet and snow. As it looks right now I believe it is safe to say that snow accumulation will be minimal, however what that means is heavy ice accumulation is likely and this time it could be .25-.4in. Right now I would say that .15-.25in is likely with pockets up to .4 possible in our immediate area. This will begin Wednesday afternoon and continue into early Thursday morning. We will have more updates tonight as new information comes in.

Freezing rain will be moving into the area in the next hour or 2. Like the other day some lightning and thunder will be possible.

02/07/2025

More ice is in the forecast for tomorrow but this will be nowhere near as bad as Wednesday night's ice event. Another storm is coming next week so we will start looking at that on Monday. As always just use caution when walking or driving.

02/06/2025

Good morning everyone, we hope you all made it out ok from this ice storm. Based on area measurements, it appears that the southern half of Ottawa County got .2-.25in of ice while the northern half got closer to .1-.15in. In an area from Hancock to Sandusky County some spots recieved .25in+ and that is where the worst of the ice fell. Not often at all that you will have freezing rain with bright lightning and loud thunder. Now we move on to Saturday where another system could bring more ice or snow depending on its track. I will be diving into that today and start forecasting that storm.
