The Animal is back — Upper Gauley Race, Monday Sept 21. Mass start at noon, 9.8 miles of Class IV/V whitewater, finish line chaos at Sweets Falls. We’ll be live streaming the finish starting around 1230 PM from the NRG instagram page. Who’s racing this year, and who’s watching from the rocks?

People have been asking for me to make merch with the yellow hardcore day-like logo on this page and the answer has been no.

The story behind our profile pic is it is a knockoff of a local brand that has been gone awhile. Using it has always bothered me, so I created the Carnage Beast one that is featured on our other pages.

I would change it on Facebook, but since April 7th, the ability to change the profile pic has been removed from my account. Despite many dozens of hours with Facebook support trying to restore control these settings to remove the old one, I have not been successful.

Today, I learned that there are some hats and shirts going around right now that have a similar graphic as the profile picture for our Facebook account.

This has nothing to do with this page. Do what you want, but I wanted to clear that up. When I do get the opportunity to make merch for sale, it will be of the Carnage Beast logo.

It’s why we can’t have nice things. Opening day of Gauley culminates with a raft wrapped tightly over our beloved d***o (yes that’s what it’s most commonly called) rock and the River Rangers did not look nearly as excited as the rock.

First Sunday, and the masses were ready to receive the blessing. Rafts were delivered from the rock, and all was forgiven. Mostly by gravity. We were blessed. Some of us were also wet.
