The perfect double date night must include tapas. 🍷🇪🇸

And if you’re looking for Spanish food in Charlotte, Catalú is the best we’ve found in CLT so far.

Going with friends is definitely the move here — order a table full of dishes, share everything, grab a bottle of w**e, and settle in for the night.

Here’s everything we ate, in order:

🥔 Patatas Bravas
🥗 Beet Salad
🐟 Mahi Mahi
🍅 Pan con Tomate
🦪 Mussels
🍖 Oxtail
🥘 The Catalú Paella
🐟 Ceviche
🍰 Olive Oil Cake
✨ Churros

There was A LOT of food on this table, but that’s exactly how tapas night should be. 🙌🏽

Catalú has officially made our list for Charlotte date night recommendations — especially if you can bring another couple and try more of the menu.

What’s the best Spanish restaurant you’ve tried in Charlotte?

Dinner at 60 Vines 🍷

Sometimes you don’t need a meal to completely blow you away—you just want a restaurant that does everything well. That pretty much sums up our visit to 60 Vines.

Overall, I’d call it a solid 4-star spot. The service was attentive, the atmosphere was beautiful, and the food was consistently good.

Here’s what we ordered:

🍟 Truffled Vineyard Fries – Fun presentation and a great way to start the meal.

🥗 Grilled Golden Beets – Beautifully plated, but I was hoping for a little more flavor.

🦪 Pan-Roasted Mussels – Solid dish that paired well with the table.

🐟 Atlantic Salmon – My favorite entrée of the night. Perfectly cooked and full of flavor.

🍝 Campanelle – Comforting, well-executed pasta that rounded out the meal.

Would I go back? Absolutely. It’s the kind of place that’s easy to recommend for date night, dinner with friends, or when you’re looking for a consistently good meal in Charlotte.

Have you been to 60 Vines? What should we order next time?

Anyone going?!

It’s hard to believe this place m has only been open for four weeks! 🤩

Paula and I recently stopped in to for dinner and left wondering how this place isn’t already one of the most talked-about restaurants in Charlotte.

We started with the spread trio and focaccia, and I honestly couldn’t get enough of the pimento cheese spread. Every bite was just SO good!

For entrées, we ordered the lobster carbonara and salmon. The lobster carbonara was rich and indulgent without being overly heavy, and the salmon was cooked absolutely perfectly—something that’s harder to find than it should be.

And then came dessert. We were already impressed by the meal, but the desserts were the perfect ending and sealed the deal for us.

Beyond the food, the restaurant itself is beautiful. The space has a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels polished without being pretentious. The service was attentive, friendly, and professional from start to finish.

This place has jumped to the top of my recommendation list whenever someone asks where to find great American food in Charlotte.

Have you been yet?! What should we try the next time we visit?!

I just found your new lunch spot in Oak Island. 🥪🍷

📍 Back Home Butcher

While we were on vacation this week, Paula and I stopped by a newer butcher shop and sandwich spot that completely exceeded our expectations.

Paula ordered the Reuben, I went with the Philly cheesesteak, and we shared the pimento cheese and bruschetta plate to start.

Everything was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made by people who know good food.

Then we found out they do W**e Wednesdays, so we stuck around for a tasting featuring several fine Italian w**es. 🍷

What really made it all click was learning a little about the team behind the food. The chef is originally from New York, and the manager previously owned delis in Virginia. After tasting the sandwiches, that made a lot of sense.

Between the market, butcher shop, w**e selection, and surprisingly great lunch menu, this is the kind of place you'll want to come back to again and again.

If you're headed to Oak Island this summer, put this one on your list.
