Next stop on my pilgrimage: brought me to the Church of St. Ignatius in Rome!

Fun fact: to save money, St. Ignatius was built with a flat roof, but the ceiling was painted as an optical illusion to look like a dome, by Andrea Pozzo, SJ in the 1600s. (He did a really good job 😍)

And in the 1850s, the Jesuit community used the church’s flat roof for their telescopes and studying astronomy! ✨ 🔭

My illustrator brought me on a pilgrimage to Rome! First stop: the Church of the Gesù!



Posted • Happy feast day of St. Ignatius! I got to take Audacious Ignatius with me on a pilgrimage this month, and we had a great visit at the Church of the Gesù in Rome! The church is gorgeous, and right next door you can visit the rooms where St. Ignatius lived and worked. My favorite part was seeing his desk and the icon of “Our Lady of the Desk” that hung above it… St. Ignatius and Our Lady of the Desk, pray for us!
