They had a DJ providing some music as the players arrived and it was easy to recognize the songs, even having the words pop into my head, whether I heard the song just last week or five years ago.

I’m not quite sure how the brain-music connection works but I have no doubt that it does.

There were plenty of pumpkins to go around, as youngsters were encouraged to decorate them with a variety of stickers, googly eyes, markers, bows, pipe cleaners, fake spiders and more, creating one of a kind decorative gourds.

This year’s event, put on by the Escalon Lions Club, also featured multiple vendors throughout the park, offering up goods including handmade soaps, crystals, candles, handbags, colorful gooey slime and more.

Buyers came from both in and outside the city, many making an annual trek to Escalon to take in the event and shop for bargains.

For shopper Julie Williams, who was raised in Escalon and now lives in Modesto, she said making the quick trip to Escalon on the first Saturday of October is a must.
