A poem I wrote for Charlie…

There once was a boy who loved to talk.
He spoke before he woke, he spoke before he walked.

By 5 years of age he had the wildest dreams.
Where everyone could speak without feeling the need to be mean.

Soon enough his words caught up with the wind.
He spoke to anyone that had an ear to lend.

He asked, “Why do we do the things that we do?
What makes me, ME? What makes you, YOU?”

Before long, crowds began to form just to hear the boy speak.
Fans shared his rebuttals, they’d talk about for weeks

People started to wonder over the questions he asked.
Cause some made them uncomfortable, some made them quite mad.

A friend asked “Why do you ask them these things?
If you poke a fire, you’re surely to get caught in a flame.”

The boy sat and he thought a moment in silence.
Then said, “If I stay quiet, will we ever stop the violence?”

The years past and the crowds grew.
But his friend watched, he waited, he knew.

That the special boy who loved to speak.
Who loved Jesus Christ was not timid, nor was he weak.

Amidst a time when people shame what you think.
This boy held onto his conviction, he did not blink.

And now the day has come where the boy must go.
In this land he’s spoken to everyone that I know.

If you listen closely you can still hear his words.
They will be never forgotten and never unheard.

Because people like this are special you see.
The boy that loved to speak, his name was Charlie.

🎬 Words Greater Than Bullets — my next short film.

My last feature 115 Grains focused on law enforcement su***de prevention. Now, I want to create another story with purpose — a gripping drama about a young activist whose voice inspires thousands, but whose courage to speak freely makes him a target. It’s a story about the cost of free speech, faith, and ultimately, legacy.

I have the gear and the vision. What I need are investors and collaborators to help me bring on a powerful cast and crew. The short will serve as a proof of concept to raise financing for the feature — with proceeds going to the Kirk family or a cause close to their hearts.
