After a year of festivals, community forums, and prison screenings, our short documentary Stitch & Time is now available to stream.

Spending time with these men changed us in ways we didn’t expect. We hope the film stays with you the way it has stayed with us.

Stitch & Time is a short documentary about men serving life sentences in a California prison who create handmade items for fellow prisoners in hospice—an unexpected story about care, dignity, and human connection.

Despite what you may have heard lately, Somali refugees in Minnesota aren’t a threat to this country—they’re part of its fabric. We spent time with the Somali community there on a recent Fourth of July and met workers who were proud, dedicated, and deeply enthusiastic about the place they now call home. Here’s the film we made about a group of deaf Somali employees at a Jennie-O Turkey Store plant who became some of the company’s most valued workers.

Abdullahi Moallin came to America after losing his hearing as a child during the civil war in Somalia. At the Jennie-O plant in Faribault, MN, he found opportunity…

We have a trailer!

Excited to share a first look at Stitch & Time—a short doc about a group of incarcerated men who crochet for fellow prisoners in hospice. The film is just beginning to make its way into the world, and already we're seeing how a simple act of giving can ripple outward with unexpected power.

Next up: the premiere at Dances With Films (June 24 · 4:45pm · TCL Chinese Theatre), and plans to bring the film to 90,000 incarcerated people across California.

We tend to neglect promoting ourselves—but you gotta do it, right?

Here’s our new showreel. A snapshot of what we’ve been making at The Unscripted Company.

We asked ourselves what makes our work different—and what that means to our clients.

The simple answer is that, for us, the work is personal.

We live with our stories—from the first conversation to the final cut. We don’t just shape them; we’re shaped by them.

That intimacy extends to our collaborators, too. The people we work with—on both sides of the camera—become part of our story.

We’re built to make meaningful work—lean, nimble, and personal.

Tell us what you’re working on. What your dream projects are. The stories in your world that have to be told.

Or let us help you find them. We’re easy to reach—and easier to talk to.

We’re honored to share Stitch & Time with the world—and grateful to everyone who made our launch event such a meaningful night. Huge thanks to our partners at The Patchwork Collective for hosting, our brilliant panelists, moderator Miguel Quezada, and especially Clay and Billy Ray for joining us live from inside.

Next stop: Dances With Films at the TCL Chinese Theatre. If your org or community is interested in hosting a screening and panel, we’d love to connect.
