Happenstance Agent 001 (Maureen Forys) and Agent 003 (Cody Gates) were thrilled to attend the book launch for The Inclusive Language Field Guide by Suzanne Wertheim, Ph.D. We couldn’t be more proud to have handled the interior design and production for this powerful, informative, and practical guide to understanding and using inclusive language. Congratulations to Suzanne and her publisher (and our long-time client) Berrett-Koehler for another amazing contribution to changing our world for the better.

Twenty twenty-three seems to be the year for designing and setting giant tomes. Happenstance recently received our copy of I Ching, The Oracle, published by North Atlantic Books, and we couldn’t be more proud. Complicated and technical doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice good design and beautiful typography. With nearly 1,000 pages of tables within tables, in both Chinese and English, the challenge was to find an elegant way to present the intense amount of information in both the print and ebook. Another cipher cracked!

Agent 001 recently spent 10 days teaching students at University of Redlands Johnston Center (her alma mater) about book design in conjunction with producing a 50th anniversary book for the program.
