I came to this song by way of John Fahey's crypto-biographical bibliomantic monograph "How Bluegrass Destroyed My Life," which I do highly recommend. Dena and I had just bought this 1979 Chinook and were in the process of moving into it for what became a 2 year trip into concentrically deeper levels of America on the road, living in this RV, playing shows and selling bizarre botanical cocktails. We had met less than a year earlier, this is probably one of the first things we recorded together.

Good morning. I hope that as your summer draws to a close that it was one for the books, and that as fall begins to shine it's golden hour onto 2023, your heart is full and your mind observant.

This is to let folks know that there have been some updates to my back catalog both here on Bandcamp, and for the first time ever, some of this music is available on streaming platforms.

We have reached the 5 year anniversary of The Lodestones "Burn Country" and the album is sounding killer with improved mixes, and remastering. Expect fireworks from Idaho Joe's lead guitar.

Also available now here on Bandcamp as well as streaming platforms, are re-mastered releases of 3 Moons "Well Dweller," "Snake from Blood to Sky," and "3word Sword."

In observance of Burn Country's 5 years of existence, I'm re-releasing our music video for "Mental Control." Synopsis:

"An ersatz Elvis impersonator is being pursued by some kind of potentially dangerous "Man in Black." He is caught and held hostage in a cheap motel room, then subjected to psychic testing before being regaled by the Man In Black's tales of the extraterrestrial and supernatural literature. The Man In Black is threatened by some kind of sword wielding apparition, and then appears to commit pill induced su***de. The Elvis Impersonator hires a trumpet playing cactus shaman from the street to negate the evil influence of the Man in Black."

Introducing "Extemporaneous Spectrum." This is a series of spontaneous, unstudied, unprepared, unconsidered, unscripted, automatic, instinctive, impulsive sounds of sonic collaboration, exploration, and baffling of intention, recorded in various situations within the maze of reality.

The first entry consists of "Monkey Puzzle (I-III)" featuring Andrew 6-Ear Luker, Idaho Joe Winslow & Jeffrey Rocketmild Jefferson, recorded live at the Pampas Manor, Oakland, CA, Feb, 2019. Pedal steel, clarinet, electronics, guitar, percussion.

The second entry, shown here, is "40 lb. Forehead," recorded in the pound crazed town of Hayfork, CA in March 2017 under the waxing gibbous Worm Moon, featuring Graham Baldwin and Jeffrey Rocketmild on noise table electronics.
