This is not a post we thought we’d share after three years of covid hiatus… it is with an extremely heavy heart that we share the loss of one of our set MVPs Patty Do

We met Patty on our first ever production in 2016: “XANH the movie.” And since then, she’s never missed an opportunity to work alongside us for our following projects: Yesterday, no sleep, and Transfer Station. Outside of the film set, Patty always rolled through to every party, community event, or gathering. Her energy always filled up every room with weirdness, vibrancy, and a unique magic that you just can never forget.

Patty loved biking and fu***ng up gender. Patty made the revolution look fun, imaginative, and possible. Patty loved her friends, family, and community. Patty lived life in all the ways we wish we knew how.

Thank you for modeling what it means to embrace the true meaning of life, joy and friendship. What an honor and privilege to be able to create, build, and grow with you. We’re so heartbroken 💔

Hey, we’re still here! The pandemic forced our team to take a long, long break but we are still committed to the skp vision, long term. Today we’re jumping on here to share some mad love to our special Producer/ Director/ AC/ Actor/Gaffer ! Vivian literally can do anything on the set and we love her cinematic expertise. She’s always super thoughtful about how we run our shows.
Fun fact: The set of nenci no sleep took place in Vivian’s apartment and rooftop. Vivian was both in front of the camera and behind 👏 👏 👏
Happy birthday Vivian! We can wait to see you again ❤️❤️❤️

It’s with a heavy heart that we share the loss of one of our crew members: Tom Rivas. Tom always showed up to our production set ready to take on any task. He was kind, thoughtful, and treated everyone so respectfully. We are fortunate to have worked with him and our memories of him will live on behind the scenes as well as in front of the camera. Rest Easy, Tom ❤️

Hi friends!

Our community is precious to us. As q***r and Asian filmmakers, we believe in the power of media to liberate us. We would love for y'all to check out our take on "The Half of It".

With love, SKP

Amidst the overwhelming praise for "The Half of It", including those from the q***r and Asian community, there are a few things portrayed in this film that we feel is important to call attention to. A discussion on r**e culture and white supremacy in Alice Wu's Netflix film, "The Half

My father had this shipped out from Hue, Vietnam to the states. This is my family’s alter we’ve owned for 25 years. We grew up on section 8 housing which meant, we never stayed at a home for too long depending on where funding was. But somehow, my family managed to bring this artifact with us to wherever we called “home.”

On almost every Buddhist-Viet altar, there are statues of multiple Buddhas, fruit/food, flowers, and most importantly, photos of our ancestors, specifically our grandparents.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When I was 10, I remember looking my mom straight in the eye and telling her “I will never continue this practice. It’s stupid and wasteful.” The look of my mother’s eyes filled with grief, anger, and sadness as she responds “Don’t you ever tell your father” which I’m sure in her head she’s probably like “you dumb privileged bratty ungrateful motherf**ker.” Lol ok back to the story.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In 2017, I had a vision where I wanted to produce a short film called XANH that explores Buddhism, spirituality, gender identity, and being Vietnamese. I discovered that Buddhism and q***rness really tie with one another where both practices meant really embodying what its like to be within your body despite the challenges of things like gender dysphoria and trauma.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I asked my parents if I could have a 40 people crew of q***rs carry this out in the middle of a fu***ng field to be in my film. I was nervous that they would say no, but they responded with “are you sure, it’s really fu***ng heavy.” (They didn’t say “fu***ng” but I’m a dramatic storyteller).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I believe that we are the generation of healers and we have the ability to stop cycles of harm and intergenerational trauma. XANH was the product of my lived experience and my relationship with my mother. XANH was produced 3 years ago and this week, we released it to the public. I’m so fu***ng nervous to share it with you all because I was like a bb q***r 3 years ago but this also is a piece of me that served my growth and healing process as a filmmaker. I hope you enjoy and get a taste of my weird mind. (LINK IN BIO)

WATCH XANH! 💙💚

Three years ago, we embarked on a journey of producing a q***r, Vietnamese short film called XANH.

Filmmaking is more than just the product-- so much is about the magic that happens on set. This journey has been incredibly healing and we are excited to share XANH with you all.
