From Jennings Correspondent Marjorie Hartzog:
The Jennings Fire Department and the City of Jennings will have their Firemen's FunDay and America's 250th birthday celebration on Saturday, Aug. 29. Events start with a parade beginning at 1 p.m.(lineup for the parade will be at noon), firemen's barrel competition with area fire departments, fire truck rides, supper, auction, and a street dance featuring Mobile Music Express. Commemorative T-shirts will be available for purchase. Local residents are baking kolaches which will be for sale throughout the event. Donations of auction items will be accepted until the auction begins.

Beginning band students and families: Mr. Persinger says a representative from Yanda's Music will be at the Decatur Community High School Band Room from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17 to sell/rent band instruments for the fifth-grade band students.

The first Bazaar on the Bricks of the season is tomorrow, July 25!
The Hospital Board meeting for July has been moved to Tuesday, July 28. Events for the Decatur County Fair start next weekend with the 4-H Fashion R***e at 6 p.m., Friday, July 31 at the Wheatridge Terrace Senior Living Apartments. The 4-H Horse Show will be at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 1.
Also, don't forget the primary elections are next Tuesday, Aug. 4, along with the official kickoff of the Decatur County Fair.

Check out the Alumni page in this week's edition (June 3). We managed to get pictures of several classes when they came to visit for their class reunions on May 23. This week's paper also features Memorial Day celebrations from several communities in the Northwest Kansas region.

When are the Easter Services for all the churches? We need them for a story for the newspaper.

The six newspapers of our group in Northwest Kansas, including Goodland, Colby, St. Francis, Atwood, Oberlin, and Norton, are being combined into one giant newspaper starting with next week's edition, March 4.
Destry Jackson will continue to be the reporter out of the Oberlin office. Stories, ads, and photos will now be included in the news for all six counties and towns.
We look forward to continuing to bring you the news.
