Yesterday, as I was leaving the doctors office,
I saw a couple that I knew. What I witnessed was the wife obviously convicted of her actions, but felt in order to save their marriage, because the husband backslid she had to compromise. From that, the Lord urged me to share these words.
To the husband or wife who has watched their spouse pull away from God: don’t you pull away too.
I know it can be painful to watch someone you love become distant from the very God you both once pursued together. You may find yourself questioning, grieving, frustrated, or even tempted to say, “If they’re not doing it anymore, why should I?” You feel that you love them less if you don’t join them.
But hear me: STAY ON THE WALL.
Keep praying. Keep seeking God.Keep walking in holiness. Keep being the example. Keep loving your spouse. Keep your heart tender.
And whatever you do, don’t let your spouse’s struggle become the reason you lose your relationship with God.
Your spouse should never come between you and the One who gave you both life.
And listen…you don’t have to mistreat them because they’ve changed. Don’t become bitter. Don’t weaponize Scripture. Don’t constantly preach at them. Don’t change who God called you to be just because they are in a different place.
Love them through it. Pray for them through it. But don’t lose yourself in it.
There is something powerful about a spouse who remains steadfast. Your life can become a living testimony of what it looks like to remain faithful when circumstances are difficult.
Paul asked:
“Don’t you wives realize that your husbands might be saved because of you? And don’t you husbands realize that your wives might be saved because of you ?” —1 Corinthians 7:16
And Peter added:
“... then even if some refused to obey the Good News, your godly lives will speak to them without any words. They will be won over by observing your pure and reverent lives.”—1 Peter 3:1
Notice the language: WON.
Not manipulated. Not forced. Not controlled.
Won.
Your steadfastness may become the very testimony God uses to draw your spouse back.
So stay in position. Stay in prayer. Stay in the Word. Stay in love. Stay on the wall.
And most importantly, stay connected to God.
Because you can love your spouse deeply without making your spouse your god.
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?” — Romans 8:35
Nothing. No One❤️🔥
Don’t lose yourself trying to hold onto someone else.
Be who God called you to be, and let God deal with your spouse. 🙏🏽
