Due to being called to Washington, D.C., Congressman Randy Fine will not be able to attend our Belleview Meet & Greet scheduled for tomorrow, August 12. We are cancelling this event and will look to reschedule for a future date in Belleview.

Praise in public. Criticize in private.

It’s an old piece of wisdom (and one Dale Carnegie would agree with, IYKYK, if you don't, ask me and I'll change your world) — and it still works.

Recently, we had an issue at a fast casual restaurant here in Ocala that we visit often. Instead of leaving a public 1-star review or posting about it on social media, I took three extra seconds to find their customer service email. I calmly explained what happened.

Guess what? They replied almost immediately… with a free meal for the family.

Would that have happened if I’d publicly blasted them? Probably not.

Don’t be lazy. Be kind. Give businesses the benefit of the doubt and a chance to make things right.

Yes, there’s a time and place for honest public reviews — but you’d be surprised how often a simple, direct conversation gets you a better outcome.
