NEWS | Haitian international Woodensky Pierre is taking his career abroad, signing with Forge FC / Forge FC in Hamilton, Ontario, according to Dynamique Info Sport.

The 21-year-old defensive midfielder joins Forge after leaving Violette AC as a free agent. The outlet reports that Pierre signed a two-and-a-half-season deal with an additional one-year option and is expected to be officially presented by the Canadian club on Wednesday, August 26.

Pierre entered the international spotlight earlier this year as the only Haiti-based player selected to the Grenadiers’ 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He was on the bench for Haiti’s three World Cup matches after earning his first senior international appearance against Iceland in March.

The move sends him from Haiti’s domestic championship to one of Canada’s most successful clubs. Forge FC competes in the Canadian Premier League and has won the CPL championship four times, in 2019, 2020, 2022 and 2023. The Hamilton club also won the 2025 CPL Shield as the league’s best regular-season team.

Forge FC had not yet published an official announcement of Pierre’s signing as of Monday morning •

NEWS | Florida Governor candidate Byron Donalds says he is working with Haiti’s transitional government as the Trump administration moves forward with the end of Temporary Protected Status for Haitians.

Speaking Sunday on CBS News’ Face the Nation, Donalds said he has held meetings with Haiti’s transitional government and its ambassador about efforts to improve security in the country. He said discussions have focused on strengthening security forces and creating conditions that could help stabilize Haiti.

Donalds also claimed that Haitian authorities and their partners have regained control of roughly “a quarter to half” of the country from armed gangs. He did not provide additional details or evidence during the interview to support that estimate.

Host Margaret Brennan challenged Donalds on the decision to end TPS, pointing out that the U.S. State Department continues to warn Americans against traveling to Haiti because of kidnapping, crime, violence and limited access to basic services.

Donalds acknowledged that stabilizing Haiti will take time but defended ending TPS, arguing that the program was created as temporary protection and should not continue indefinitely. He said the U.S. is working with Haiti’s transitional authorities to ensure the appropriate security forces are in place.

NEWS | Dendy Desnoyers’ rise to Director General of Haiti’s Inspection Générale des Finances (IGF) is the latest step in a career built almost entirely inside the institution he now leads.

Desnoyers joined the IGF in January 2011 as a first-level Assistant Inspector. Over the next 15 years, he moved through the institution’s ranks and took on increasingly senior responsibilities in public auditing, internal control and oversight of state finances.

Official IGF records show him serving as an Inspecteur Général and leading the Direction de Surveillance des Capitaux Publics. He later also served as acting head of the institution’s internal audit and advisory unit and sat on the IGF’s leadership council. He was also involved in technical work supporting an audit of Haiti’s public-sector payroll.

By the time of his appointment, Desnoyers had reached the senior rank of Inspecteur Général de Classe Exceptionnelle.

On August 18, 2026, he was formally installed as Director General of the IGF, placing a career public-service professional who began as an assistant inspector at the head of the institution where he developed his career.

In his inaugural address, Desnoyers said his administration would focus on strengthening financial controls, preventing risks, improving procedures, developing staff skills and reinforcing discipline and performance within the institution •

FACESOFHAITI COVERAGE | Meet Tatenda Rameau, Haiti has a new representative for the Miss Universe stage.

Tatenda Josephina Rameau was crowned Miss Universe Haiti 2026 on Sunday, August 23, in Miami, succeeding Melissa Queenie Sapini. She represented the arrondissement of Les Cayes.

Beyond pageantry, Rameau is an actress, writer, producer, former corporate speechwriter and graduate journalism student, with much of her work centered on storytelling and representation.

Born in Syracuse to a Haitian-American mother and Jamaican-American father, she grew up across the United States, France and Ghana, shaping her multicultural perspective.

Rameau graduated from Wellesley College, where she competed in track and field, and is now pursuing a master’s degree in journalism at Georgetown University. She previously worked as a speechwriter for Fortune 500 companies.

Her acting credits include All’s Well with My Soul and The Other Skye, continuing a creative career built around writing, performance and storytelling.

That same focus drives her platform, Found in Translation, which uses cultural exchange and the arts to help people feel seen, heard and connected.

Through the initiative, she has led anti-bullying acting workshops, storytelling activities with senior citizens and advocacy for greater access to the arts.

Rameau also entered Miss Universe Haiti with pageant experience. Earlier this year, she competed as Miss Embassy Row in Miss District of Columbia 2026, finishing third runner-up and among the Top 5.

She will now represent Haiti at the 75th Miss Universe competition, scheduled for November 24, 2026, in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Tatenda Josephina Rameau enters her reign with a background combining pageantry, journalism, performance and community advocacy, and a clear commitment to using storytelling as a way to connect people •
