Why Manatee Season matters!
From now through March 31st, manatees seek refuge in warm, shallow waters, especially freshwater springs, where they can stay safe and cozy during the cold months.
This is a critical time for manatees, especially mothers with babies.
To keep them safe, we must admire them from a distance and let them be wild.
has a guide for reporting manatee sightings!
Be sure to check out the guide if you plan to visit our springs this winter!
Report a sick or injured manatee in Florida to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) 24-hour Wildlife Alert Hotline by calling 1-888-404-3922 (FWCC).

Help provide valuable information to
researchers who are tracking manatees.
If you’re lucky enough to see one in the wild:
✔️ Watch quietly from at least 6 feet away
✔️ Never touch, chase, or approach them
✔️ Let them come to you (if they choose to!)
✔️ Float calmly—avoid kicking or splashing
✔️ Share the space with respect 🫧
Together, we can protect these magical moments and make sure manatees thrive for generations to come.
