The sound of a new born manatee talking is the cutest! 💙

Manatee Season Begins Today: Nov 15
Florida’s gentle sea cows are returning to warm-water springs and sanctuaries for the winter.

This mom and her juvenile and new born calf where all talks!
You can actually hear them squeaking to each other in this video. Did you know that manatees use vocalizations to communicate, especially between mothers and babies.

It’s one of the most heart-melting sounds in nature. 🐘💧

Why Manatee Season matters!
From now through March 31st, manatees seek refuge in warm, shallow waters, especially freshwater springs, where they can stay safe and cozy during the cold months.

This is a critical time for manatees, especially mothers with babies.
To keep them safe, we must admire them from a distance and let them be wild.

has a guide for reporting manatee sightings!
Be sure to check out the guide if you plan to visit our springs this winter!

Report a sick or injured manatee in Florida to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) 24-hour Wildlife Alert Hotline by calling 1-888-404-3922 (FWCC).

Report Healthy Manatee Sightings through Save the Manatee Club at the link in their bio.
Help provide valuable information to
researchers who are tracking manatees.

If you’re lucky enough to see one in the wild:

✔️ Watch quietly from at least 6 feet away
✔️ Never touch, chase, or approach them
✔️ Let them come to you (if they choose to!)
✔️ Float calmly—avoid kicking or splashing
✔️ Share the space with respect 🫧

Together, we can protect these magical moments and make sure manatees thrive for generations to come.

The scars on these manatees tell a sad story 😞

This gentle giants has multiple boat strike scars across its back and a damaged tail, most likely from a propeller injury. 💔

It’s a heartbreaking yet all-too-common reality here in Florida, where manatees face constant threats from watercraft.

Manatees are slow-moving, gentle herbivores who come up for air every few minutes, and that makes them especially vulnerable to speeding boats in shallow waters.

Most adult manatees bear the marks of close calls or collisions. Some aren’t so lucky.

November is so follow and join their efforts to protect these incredible beings and their fragile habitat.

November is Manatee Awareness Month 💙

We all know that manatees need our love, support and ACTION now more than ever!

There gentle, curious, and loving creatures are so incredibly important to Florida’s waters!

I’ve had the honor of working with for several years to raise awareness about these gentle giants and I’m incredibly excited to help raise awareness again this year.

Their mission to protect manatees and restore their habitats is something I care deeply about.

As a conservationist and ocean advocate, this month is a beautiful reminder that what we love, we protect.
Let’s use our voices to make waves for manatees.

Stay tuned for giveaways, and lots of mermazing manatee surprises coming this month. 💙
