Congratulations Katie Gillespie on catching this beautiful 25” red drum in the 120 team Cape Hatteras Anglers Club tournament…it is her first time fishing the tournament and what a catch..👏🎣👏🎣. Great job!

Status quo approved by a 13-3 vote.   

The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) and its Striped Bass Management Board have officially cast their vote this morning on Addendum III to Amendment 7 to the striped bass fishery management plan.  Status Quo, no catch reductions in 2026.  

But, the vote also includes establishing a new Working Group to look at the future health and management of striped bass “in consideration of severely reduced reproductive success in the Chesapeake Bay.”

OCFC fished ASAC LBI surf fishing tournament Saturday, October 4,2025. Trish Daley scored the most fish points for women and largest fish, she caught an 11.75“ sundial on the first cast. She received a beautiful Tsunami rod and a Penn reel for each. The gold team, Matt Heisley captain, fished hard and won 5th place!

STRIPED BASS: ASSESSMENTS, ADDENDUMS &
ANGLER ENGAGEMENT

The research and recovery of data from striped bass helps us learn their patterns and further work towards bettering a fishery. The name of the game is angler engagement, whether it’s voicing your opinion at hearings, practicing proper catch and release methods and or tagging your own fish, each angler has an important role to perform. Speaking of tagging, the tagging continues with the help of the field of competitors at StriperQuest 2025.
