WILDFIRE UPDATE 🔥
••The Jones Road wildfire has reached 15,000 acres with 50% containment as of 10 am.
••All mandatory evacuations have been lifted and the GSP and Route 9 are reopened to traffic.
••> Local police have one Ocean Township man in custody on arson charges. It is claimed he was burning pallets and left them before ensuring they were fully out which is believed to have triggered the fire. He is being charged with aggravated arson and arson at this time.

••A full damage assessment is underway however we know for sure one commercial business was lost and according to the property owner caused a loss of 2 Million dollars of inventory. This is along with several out buildings and vehicles being burned according to NJFFS.

••An air quality alert is in effect for a large part of the region due to the wildfire smoke and falling ash.

••Several back burns and fire lines have been made in attempts to contain the blaze and it's likely these operations saved several communities.
••*Massive shout out to all New Jersey Forest Fire Service, all local full time fire fighters, and especially all local volunteer fire fighters for protecting our beautiful pine forests and communities.

Snowfall update. The NWS put out a Special Weather Statement about an hour ago for snowfall rates of 0.5-1" an hour. My measurements prove this to be true and also show our total snowfall from this storm to be 3 1/2" of snow as of 1:40 PM in Mullica Hill. These snowfall rates will significantly reduce the visibility to one half of a mile to occasionally as low as one quarter of a mile, so please be cautious out there today! Heavy, wetter snow is expected this evening!

New possible future snowfall total map released by NWS. Looks like compared to the last map heavier snow could go South then originally expected of course still missing Cape May County (a inch or two can't be ruled out) and that potential I mentioned for between 6-8" looks to have shifted Northeast. I'm still on the fence about any widespread snow totals that high however I'm still not ruling out the potential for that isolated 6-8" snowfall total here or there. If I had to wager I'd say just barely East of I-95 has the greatest potential for that to occur. Of course time will tell!
View a compassion of the old outlook and the one just issued in the picture below.

It seems as of 7pm the NWS is in agreement with what I said earlier about isolated snow fall totals of at least 8". I still don't expect that to be widespread. Widespread, as of now, I'm still expecting us in Southern New Jersey to see 4-6".
I'll try to keep us updated!

WINTER STORM WARNING
The NWS has issued a winter storm warning for much of our region.Heavy snow expected with snow accumulations of 5 to 6 inches throughout Portions of northern Delaware, southern New Jersey and southeast Pennsylvania. It's expected for the Temperatures to rapidly drop into the teens late Friday night. All of this in mind travel is ill advised. Please only travel if necessary!

Personally speaking looking at everything I believe an isolated 8"+ snow report is possible. But generally speaking most of us north of Cape May County will likely see 3-4"+. With a high probability that some of us will see 5-6".
