Prayer. Scripture. Fasting. Serving. A crazy amount of discipline.

But somewhere along the way, he discovered something that still matters for us today: The habit was never supposed to become the destination.

Holy habits matter because they make room for us to know God more. But the goal isn’t to become really good at having a quiet time. The goal is Jesus.

I received the NLT Pocket Thinline Bible from Tyndale this week thanks to FrontGate Media, and I have to say...I’m loving this little Bible.

The first thing I noticed was how soft it is and how easy it is to open and move through the pages. It’s compact, but it’s beautifully made — and it’s literally about the size of a smartphone!

I have my everyday Bible sitting beside my desk at home, and that one is highlighted, underlined, written in...and HEAVY. I love it, but it is definitely not the easiest Bible to throw in my bag when I’m heading out the door or traveling.

This one? Perfect.

It fits in my purse, my backpack, a travel bag — anywhere really. And while I use a Bible app on my phone almost daily, I’ve missed carrying an actual physical Bible with me.

The other thing I really love is that it’s Filament Enabled.

That means you can scan the page you’re reading through the Filament Bible app and access study notes, devotionals, videos, maps, articles, audio and more — all connected to the passage you’re already reading.

Basically, you’re carrying around this little Bible with a whole study library available right alongside it. Seriously, how awesome is that?!

I also realize there may come a day when I’m out somewhere talking with someone about the Lord and feel prompted to pass it on to them. Maybe they don’t have a Bible. Maybe they need one. Maybe it’s simply one of those moments when you know you’re supposed to give it away.

I love knowing I’ll have one with me if that day ever comes.

But for now...it’s staying in my purse.

I’ve been thinking about this first episode ever since we recorded it, because I really believe it asks a question worth sitting with: What does pressure reveal about what’s been growing underneath our faith?

The very first episode of Unveiled Roots with Tracee is officially LIVE!

And we’re starting with a question I think all of us need to wrestle with:
Have We Gotten Too Familiar With God?

Because it’s possible to know the songs, know the Scriptures, know the church language, and be surrounded by the things of God…and still let our hunger for Him begin to fade.

In Episode 1, we’re digging into Exodus 33 and the moment Moses chose to pitch his tent outside the camp because knowing about God wasn’t enough. He wanted His presence.

And that’s where this whole Unveiled Roots journey begins: looking beneath the surface and asking what’s actually growing in our root system.

Because the storm doesn’t create the roots.
It reveals them.
