SHE’S BACK! Saenger’s reopening draws hundreds to newly-renovated ‘Gem of the Gulf Coast’

BILOXI, Miss. — After nearly a decade since the last curtain closed, the historic Biloxi Saenger Theatre has finally reopened ushering in a performing arts revival of sorts to the heart of downtown.
Amid grey skies and hit-or-miss showers most of Saturday, a five o’clock ribbon cutting with support from the Biloxi Bay Area Chamber of Commerce helped kickoff the grand reopening celebration outside 170 Reynoir Street.
By 6:15, the Saenger’s ten front entrance doors officially opened with general admission seating for “The Homecoming: A Celebration”, the first event for Encore Saenger Biloxi — the management group responsible for bookings and marketing of future events.
Directed by Anthony Starcher and Rafe O’Neal, musical direction by Sandy Starcher, and featuring the Biloxi Civic Orchestra, this celebration was more than just a performance; it was a four-hour tribute to the past, present, and future of the Saenger.
