Love is important, but respect is what holds a relationship together.

We’ve all seen couples who love each other deeply but still hurt one another. Maybe they yell in arguments, ignore boundaries, or make choices without thinking how it affects their partner. Love alone isn’t enough to stop that hurt.

Respect is different. When you truly respect someone, you think before you act. You ask yourself, “Will this decision hurt them?” You listen to their opinions, even when you disagree. You protect their trust, even when it’s hard.

Love can fade over time. But respect? Respect stays. It’s the quiet voice that says, “They matter,” even when emotions are loud.

So build your relationship on respect first. Because love without respect is like a house without a foundation—it might look strong, but it won’t survive the storm.
