💔📞 Yesterday, my dad called me. He asked if I still lived at home, what I did for work, and then suddenly — if “mommy” had a new boyfriend. For a moment, I froze. Mommy was in the other room. Then he mentioned calling “Nana Betty,” his mom who passed away before I was even born. In his mind, she was my mother.
That’s when it hit me — my dad now believes he’s 18 again, still in high school. He wakes my mom at 2am wondering if it’s time for class. He’s forgotten college, his career, and pieces of the life he built. Watching this decline is heartbreaking, but it also reminds me:
Life changes faster than we realize. Cherish every small moment — the calls, the photos, the hugs. Whether it’s Alzheimer’s, ALS, cancer, or any battle — none of us should face it alone.
