Firefighters responded to a fire at the Staples store on Long Beach Road shortly before 5 p.m. on June 10.

According to the Oceanside Fire Department, crews arriving at the store, at 3650 Long Beach Road, found a fire in an electrical room at the rear of the building. The blaze was quickly extinguished, but firefighters then faced heavy smoke and elevated carbon monoxide levels throughout the store.

Because the building had limited ventilation, several neighboring fire departments assisted in clearing smoke and carbon monoxide from the structure.
