Walmart is finally introducing Tap to Pay at its U.S. stores beginning August 24.

The rollout will start at select Walmart and Sam’s Club locations before expanding to all U.S. stores and clubs by the end of 2026.

Customers will be able to tap an eligible credit or debit card, smartphone or smartwatch at checkout. The new system will also support digital payment options including Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Walmart has been one of the largest retailers in the country to hold out on traditional Tap to Pay, instead relying on Walmart Pay through its app.

Walmart fuel stations are expected to receive Tap to Pay by mid 2027.

Oceanside Harbor could soon make life easier for local fishermen with a new “ice house” right at the docks.

Harbor officials are looking into building a self serve facility that would sell flaked ice, which is commonly used to keep fresh seafood cold. Right now, commercial fishing and sportfishing operators often have to drive into town to buy hundreds of pounds of ice.

The proposed facility could cost between $500,000 and $850,000 and may be built using converted shipping containers. Officials say the project would likely only move forward if grant funding covers most of the cost.

Oceanside Harbor currently has 19 commercial fishing boats, 19 charter boats and hundreds of other boat slips that could potentially use the service.

The city is now looking into demand, location, security and operating costs before bringing the proposal back for further discussion in October.

Oceanside is the only harbor between San Diego and Dana Point.
