The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia named Dr. Gregory M. Tanner permanent president of South Georgia State College last week.

Tanner had served as interim president since February 2023, during which time he led three consecutive years of enrollment growth, guided the institution through Hurricane Helene recovery, and oversaw the college's first major fundraising campaign, raising more than $2.1 million.
