The Shellman family began its long association with the newspaper in 1929 and merged the Herald with the Gillett Times in 1952. As students and staff at Washington Middle School pack up and prepare for the big move to the brand-new Oconto Falls Middle School this fall, they keep finding artifacts of the old building’s century of history.
Many of the artifacts will be on display during a special “Farewell WMS” community open house scheduled for 3:30-7 p.m. May 22 at the school, 102 S. Washington St., Oconto Falls.
