For Immediate Release (Brush Fire)

On Saturday. January 9th 2021 at 4:10 PM, Lakewood Fire was dispatched to the area of HWY 32 behind Laona State Bank for a report of a fire in size around 40 feet. Upon arrival we located the owner of the property who was having a controlled burn with plenty of snow around it where it wasn’t going anywhere. Engines 2511,2512,Brush Truck 2513 and Tender 2511 responded with 6 members and one Oconto County Deputy. All units cleared at 4:30 PM. There were no injuries to any firefighters or civilians. Just a reminder if you plan to have a fire feel free to call the Oconto County Sheriffs Department 920-834-6900 option 1 and just let them know so they can be informed incase someone calls it in.

We are excited to announce that St. Anthony School received a $2,000.00 grant from the organization called Walmart Giving! The grant will be used for purchasing physical education equipment for all grades at our school. Pictured are Miss Beschta, principal, and Mrs. Bushmaker, 3rd Grade Teacher.

TOMORROW IS THE DAY - WEDNESDAY - DECEMBER 30th

FAMILIES OF OCONTO FALLS SCHOOL DISTRICT: In memory of Katherine DeCoursin, Jeri Schroeder, Dalton Schroeder, Nicholas DeCoursin and Hagrid, who lost their lives in a housefire on January 17, 2020 in Oconto, Johnson Controls - Marinette, made a donation of over 12,000 Fire Extinguishers. These extinguishers are to be distributed to all families of each school student in Marinette, Menominee and Oconto Counties. We have been trying to distribute them to OFSD families at our limited events this year and we will be having a Fire Extinguisher Distribution Day on Wednesday, December 30th. Free COVID-19 testing will continue in northern Oconto County into early 2021, according to an announcement from Oconto County Public Health, Oconto County Emergency Management and the Wisconsin National Guard.

The Oconto Falls Boy Scout Troop 1024 will be holding a flag retirement on Monday June 15th, 2020 at 6pm at Camp Elliott, County Rd I, Oconto Falls. If you have a flag to be retired, you may bring it to the retirement ceremony or there is a drop box at Witt's Piggly Wiggly. Please remember to bring your own chair and mosquito repellent. Our local Boy Scout Troop 1024 will be having their Annual Flag Retirement Ceremony on Monday June 10th at 6:00PM at Camp Elliot, just outside town off County Rd I. The public is invited and welcome to bring any flags that they would like properly disposed of. This is a great patriotic event and we hope you'll join us. Bring a lawn chair and bug spray!!!!
