The Organic Artist Workshops are being
taught by Kasey Lou Lindley, artist and owner of

The curriculum for each workshop is inspired by the book
"The Organic Artist: A DIY Guide to Making Your Own Eco-
Friendly Art Supplies from Nature" by Nick Neddo. In each
workshop, students will learn how to transform materials into
art supplies and artworks (90% raw materials). Each project
will be inspired by nature; some featuring place-based
lessons on Utah's natural beauty.

DIA DE LOS MU***OS EN OGDEN
This festival is put on by Ogden Friends of Acoustic Music (OFOAM),
Ogden Midnight Runners, and the Ogden School District.
"It is a much-needed event in Ogden, as 32% of our population is
Latinx or Hispanic. It's a great way to bring a sense of belonging to
everyone, including those who might live in the shadows -
our
undocumented immigrants,
' said Arlene Anderson, Dia de los
Mu***os en Ogden chairperson.
The free event will feature a mercadito vendor market, food trucks,
a student art show, a Spanish-language film festival, the Ogden
Midnight Runners Car Show, and a live musical and cultural
performance by Ogden School District students and community
members.

Contrary to what people think, Dia de los Mu***os is NOT connected to Halloween. Though the dates are near each other and they share a similar custom, the two holidays are not related. Dia de los Mu***os originates back to the Indigenous people of Mexico and Central America. Halloween is known to be scary and ward off spirits. But in Dia de los Mu***os, the focus is to receive the souls of deceased relatives with joy and hospitality. If you are not familiar with the Dia de los Mu***os holiday, don’t worry! Come on down to the free event, Dia de los Mu***os en Ogden, located at Ben Lomond High School on Saturday, October 8th from 12-10pm!
