In the movie, John Spartan drives a stunning, ultra-futuristic 1992 Corvette Stingray concept car. General Motors only built one of them, and it cost millions. The crew was so terrified of Stallone crashing it during the action sequences that they had to build three cheap plastic replicas just for the stunts.
