EXTREME HEAT WATCH IN EFFECT

📅 Saturday Afternoon through Sunday Evening

With Ogden Fun Days in full swing and many taking advantage of Boone County’s outdoor recreation opportunities this weekend from the hiking trails of Ledges to the biking path of High Trestle Trail and to the waters of Don Williams Lake — the National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Watch.

Forecasts call for heat index values of 105–110°F, creating dangerous conditions for anyone spending time outside.

🎡 Events like the 5K Fun Run, parade, vendor fair, and carnival will take place during peak heat hours.
🌲 Hikers, bikers, paddlers, and campers — please take extra precautions.

🌡️ WHAT TO EXPECT:
• Dangerous heat & humidity Saturday and Sunday
• Elevated risk of heat-related illness
• Heat wave could extend into early next week

🧊 SAFETY TIPS:
• Stay hydrated — drink water frequently
• Take breaks in the shade or air-conditioning
• Dress in light, breathable clothing
• Watch for signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke
• Check in on vulnerable neighbors
• NEVER leave kids or pets in vehicles

Still going on this afternoon and tonight is Pilot Mound Days in Pilot Mound. This morning featured a biscuits and gravy breakfast and a bake sale. A car show is going through this afternoon. Tonight will feature some live entertainment.
