We've received all the nominations, and crowned our NEW Most Valuable Dad 2026, presented by Maze Lumber... and it's Rich Strait of LaSalle!!

Here's just some of what his daughter Candis said in her nomination:

In the last MONTH he has built a custom fence for my dog, he dug all the post holes and completely designed and built from scratch. He also assembled my greenhouse which took 36 hours and had a million parts. He made a privacy area for my trash bins. He has always been there for me my entire life. Anytime ive needed him, I can count on dad saying "no problem honey, its all good".

Rich is taking home a lot more than Candis's thanks as well. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued until 10a for Putnam County and southeastern Bureau County.

At around 9:15, severe storms were located along a line extending from near Kasbeer to near Camp Grove, moving east at 60 mph. 60 mph wind gusts and torrential rainfall is possible. Continuous lightning is occurring with these storms as well.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued until 9:30 for Bureau County.

Severe storms capable of producing 70 mph wind gusts are moving east at 65 mph. At about 8:15, the Quad City Airport reported a wind gust of 69 mph.

Strong to severe storms are moving east at 50 to 60 mph. They have the potential for damaging winds, torrential rain and large hail.

A Flood Watch has also been issued.
