33-year-old reality star suffers a heart attack from va**ng 😳
“Below Deck” star Fraser Olender revealed he suffered a heart attack and lung injury from va**ng.
“A few weeks ago I was rushed to hospital due to severe chest pains and difficulties breathing,” he wrote on Friday alongside an Instagram carousel of photos showing him in the hospital.
He noted that the incident led him to spend a week in London hospitals visiting specialists as he sought to find the cause behind the pain he was experiencing.
“To keep it simple — I had v**e poisoning, (an E-cigarette or Vaping-Associated Lung Injury (EVALI)) and I have never experienced fear or pain like it,” he shared.
EVALI is “an acute or subacute respiratory illness and can be fatal,” according to the American Lung Association.
Olender explained that he developed a “coronary artery vasospasm,” meaning that the arteries delivering blood to his heart “suddenly clamped down.”
“That spasm reduced blood flow enough to cause an ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), better known as a heart attack – not because of a blockage, but because my heart wasn’t getting enough oxygen during the spasm,” he continued.
