Our story

The Chagrin Valley Times was founded in 1971 in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, by investors who saw a need for a local newspaper. The weekly newspaper was acquired in 1973 by Douthit Communications based in Sandusky, Ohio. The company, started by the late Harold Kenneth Douthit Jr., is family owned and operated with 14 weekly newspapers still publishing today. The Chagrin Valley Times continues to be family owned and is under Publisher H. Kenneth Douthit III today.

The Chagrin Valley Times, Solon Times and Geauga Times Courier strive to publish information that is well-vetted reporting news about local governments, police, communities, people, events, entertainment, religion, sports and more. It is our intent to offer a place on Facebook as well as our website ChagrinValleyToday.com where readers can learn about local issues, share opinions and exchange views in an open forum.
