TODAY at Noon on Beebop and More with Jim Woodford...
Today's show is heavily influenced by the recent Springfield Jazz & Blues Festival. The Bobby Floyd Trio backed vocalist Carmen Bradford Friday evening with special guest Hal Melia on saxophone. What a memorable performance! And THEN, over two hours of after hours jazz jam at the State Theater, hosted by bassist George Delancey, featuring his Columbus expatriots that kept the joint jumpin'! Saturday I was fortunate enough to catch every performance on the main stage [now dedicated & renamed for Springfield native son, vibraphonist Johnny Lytle]. Lots of great music but will mention the Columbus Youth Jazz Orchestra and the main event, jazz vocalist Kurt Elling - and THEN 2 hours more of after hours jazz jam hosted by bassist Conner Smith & drummer Noah Ramirez.
