In the world of TV, Jamie Bennett was an alchemist. As senior vice president of Buena Vista Television Productions at the Walt Disney Company, he oversaw each key element that gave Americans some of the best-known shows of the 20th century — “Siskel and Ebert” and “Live with Regis and Kathie Lee” were among a few at the height of the cultural zeitgeist. But in Ojai, Bennett was a community alchemist — “someone who transforms things for the better” according to Merriam Webster — but also according to the many friends who are mourning his loss.
