Another weekly batch of homemade granola bars. They’re tastier than Nutra Valley without the additives!
Recipe below ⬇️
You can control what your family is eating right where you are! It just takes unlearning all we’ve been taught about food and medicine.
With a planner for weekly grocery lists and a few hours in the kitchen (once a week!!!) I can ensure we’re eating clean TULY nutritious food all day.
You pay for convenience with your heath.
My goal is to not purchase anything premade ever again! From these garnaola bars and other snack foods to the jars of peanut butter and jelly. If they sell it I’m learning to make it !
I’ll post recipes as I get them just right!
Start where you are !!!!
~~~~RECIPE ~~~~
▢ 2 ½ cups old fashioned rolled oats
▢ ½ cup whole almonds, roughly chopped (I also use walnuts or pecan)
▢ ⅓ cup honey (use your local honey-this is great for allergies)
▢ ¼ cup unsalted butter
▢ ¼ cup dark brown sugar
▢ 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
▢ 1 teaspoon chia seeds (I like pumpkin and sunflower seeds)
▢ ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
▢ ¼ cup dried fruit of your liking
▢ ¼ cup dried golden raisins (I use cranberries)
▢ ¼ cup mini chocolate chips, plus extra as needed ( I leave these out most of the time )
Toast the oats and the nuts together at 350 for 10 minutes
Boil the butter, sugar, honey, vanilla, and salt until mixed well - do not over stir or over boil .
Mix together in a bowl until all oats are covered. Let cool for 10-15 minutes
Place in a baking sheet of baking dish lined with wax paper. They say wet your hands and press down but I like to put another sheet of wax paper on top and use a baking sheet to press down so it’s an even press .
Press for 60 seconds at least
Refrigerate at least 2 hours ( I leave them overnight )
Cut and store 🤗
