Congratulations to Broken Arrow on launching their $100,000 pilot film incentive program—now the second-largest municipal film incentive in the state!

With rebates on local spending, hotel stays, and production space, Broken Arrow is making a bold investment in growing Oklahoma’s film industry and attracting productions to showcase its unique locations.

At Prairie Surf, we love seeing more Oklahoma cities step up to support filmmakers and build momentum for the industry statewide.

Film is more than entertainment—it’s a powerful economic engine. That’s why Prairie Surf supports TheFutureisFilmOK, a coalition working to keep the industry thriving in our state.

Unlike many industries, motion picture and television production has the flexibility to travel for each project, bringing high-paying jobs and millions in spending wherever it goes. With diverse locations across Oklahoma, that impact reaches major cities, small towns, and rural communities alike.

But 38 states offer film incentives—and if we want to keep attracting productions, we need to stay competitive. Increasing Oklahoma’s film rebate ensures that investment happens here, jobs stay here, and local businesses continue to benefit.

📢 How can you help? Share this post. Follow TheFutureisFilmOK on Facebook and Instagram, and download their Legislative Toolkit (linktr.ee/thefutureisfilmok) to learn how to advocate for keeping Oklahoma's film momentum rolling.

Let’s make sure these jobs and opportunities stay right here where they belong.

🎬 Lights, Camera, Advocate – The Time to Act is Now!

Oklahoma’s film industry is booming, creating jobs, boosting local businesses, and generating millions in tax revenue—but to keep this momentum going, we need your voice.

The Filmed in Oklahoma Act has already proven its value, with every $1 in film incentives generating over $3 in direct in-state spending. Increasing the rebate to $80 million annually would attract bigger productions, support more local jobs, and generate long-term economic growth—all without raising taxes.

📢 How can you help? Our Legislative Toolkit makes it easy for filmmakers, industry professionals, and all Oklahomans to advocate for film. Inside, you’ll find step-by-step guidance on contacting legislators, key talking points, and resources to make your voice heard.

The momentum keeps building for Oklahoma’s film industry, and Owasso is the latest city to earn its Film Friendly Certification! 🚀 This designation opens the door for more productions to discover what Owasso—and the entire state—has to offer.

A huge shoutout to our friends at Cherokee Film—their Owasso campus makes this city an even bigger draw for film and TV productions. With studios, resources, and now an official film-friendly status, Owasso is ready for the spotlight! 🎥👏

🎬 $484M and Counting: Staggering New Economic Impact Figures

On Friday, a coalition of state, city, and tribal film leaders gathered at the OKC Innovation District to unveil some exciting news: Between 2021 and 2023, the Filmed in Oklahoma Act generated over $484 million in direct economic impact.

This isn’t just about movies—it’s about jobs, small businesses, and the long-term economic future of Oklahoma.

Prairie Surf proudly stands alongside these leaders as they work to ensure that Oklahoma stays competitive in this exciting industry. Thanks to Rep. Brian Hill HD47, Lt. Governor Matt Pinnellernor Matt Pinnell, Jill Simpson with OKC Film and Creative Industries, Meg Gould with Tulsa Office of Film, Music, Arts & Culture, Jen Loren Cherokee Film Commission, and Jeanette Stanton Oklahoma Film + Music Office for their leadership, vision, and hard work in driving this growth for Oklahomans.

The momentum is real, but we must keep pushing to secure Oklahoma’s place as a national film production hub. Now is the time to support industry growth, attract more projects, and ensure more Oklahomans benefit from high-paying creative jobs.

We’re still collecting Myriad memories—and we’re looking for some truly remarkable ones to feature in a documentary about this OKC institution.

The Myriad has been a defining space for Oklahoma City, hosting events and entertainment that helped lay the foundation for today’s thriving cultural and sporting scene. After the 1995 bombing, relief efforts centered here embodied the resilience and unity of the Oklahoma Standard.

Just as the Myriad has been part of OKC’s story, it may have been part of yours. Was it the backdrop to a life-changing moment? A turning point, a moment of resilience, or an unforgettable experience?

We’d love to hear your story—and help ensure this storied building gets the spotlight it deserves.

Comment below or send us a DM if you have a story to tell!
