Loving people who love us back is easy.
Loving people who hurt us, misunderstand us, or walk away? That’s where the Gospel becomes real.💯
Jesus washed Judas’ feet knowing full well what Judas would do.
Not because the betrayal didn’t hurt…
but because His love wasn’t dependent on anyone’s behavior.🥹
That’s the instruction for us too - to let Jesus teach us a love that looks more like Him and less like the pain we’ve experienced.✝️🤎
IMPORTANT:
This never means staying in abuse, tolerating harm, or giving someone repeated access to hurt you. You can love someone, forgive someone, AND pray for someone without remaining in relationship with them. Healthy boundaries and safety honor God too.
“Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” Matthew 5:44 📖
