This morning was Scout 🐾and Tatum 👧outside in the snow.
The first snow.
And the first one without Stella 🐾❤️‍🩹

We lost Stella suddenly this week, and I still don’t quite know how to say that out loud without my chest tightening. She was supposed to be here. She always was. The one always close by. The peace and presence. The one who made our house feel grounded in a way you don’t realize until it’s gone.

Scout has always loved the snow. Stella did too—but in her own way. She didn’t need to be wild about it. She just needed to be near. Watching. Existing. Belonging.

So when the snow started falling this morning and I saw Scout and Tatum playing outside, I stayed inside. I watched through the blinds. Not because I didn’t want to be part of it—but because it felt like a moment I wasn’t meant to interrupt.

Joy and grief are strange like that.
They coexist.
They don’t cancel each other out.

This was Scout’s first snow without her sister.
Our first snow without them both out there together.
And somehow, Stella was still everywhere in my mind and heart.

Pet parents understand this kind of loss. Never thought I’d be like this honestly. The quiet absence. The way routines feel off. The way “firsts” hit harder than you expect. How love doesn’t leave when they do—it just changes shape.

This moment wasn’t for the camera.
It was for remembering.
For letting joy exist without guilt.
For letting Scout be a dog.
For letting Tatum be a kid.
For letting Stella be missed, deeply and honestly.

We’ll carry her with us—into every season that comes next. ❄️🐾🤍

This level of shift in my life and home with a pet is something new for me. New for all of us.
.
We got Stella and Scout in February of 2020. They were litter mates. We went for one and came home with two🤪 They were a different kind of steady for us given the seasons we walked through with them
They were an anchor for the kids when we were at home most of March, April and May of that year
So it just feels like to carries more than what I’ve experienced loss of a pet before
We are adjusting and scout is doing very well. She is settling. Connecting with the kids more. Staying near by but given space. Eating and drinking - she has been a worry for me but she’s reorganizing the change in dynamic and well 🐾💓
I always had believed the WHY when educating is key. Be it healthcare, homeschool and now vet care. I’ll be sharing more of what happened and how I hope it can help other dog famikies if ever in the situation we found ourselves in. 🐾✨

Some people call Disney the ‘The Happiest Place on Earth,’ but for me, it’s a tie between Disney World and handing over the keys to a client’s dream home. ✨🏡
