☀️HANDLE WITH CARE

🤑HIRE A PRO, NOT A HOE V.5

🥵HEAT STRESS - STAY HYDRATED: ALWAYS have cool Water WHEN working outdoors AND drink plenty of Water BEFORE Working in hot environments, continue Hydrating AFTER - OSHA recommends drinking one Liter of Water every Hour, about eight Ounces every 15-20 Minutes.

🌞Exposure to Heat CAN be Dangerous - the body is constantly regulating itself to keep a consistent internal temperature, WHEN that starts to get higher, it tries to release excess Heat by circulating more Blood to the Skin and by Sweating. IF the Air is cooler than the Skin Temperature, the Blood Circulation will release Heat to the Air; BUT if the Air is too Warm, that does NOT work and the regulation becomes more difficult.

😓Sweating is very effective, but only when the Sweat is able to evaporate off the Skin, as that is what actually provides the cooling. If the Air is too humid, or the Sweat is trapped inside form-fitting, unbreathable Clothing, it will NOT work.

🍺The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends avoiding Energy Drinks AND Alcohol to PREVENT Dehydration - Energy Drinks ARE typically high in Caffeine which can affect your heart.

🍏Eat to fuel your day: Eat regularly to help replace the Salt lost while you Sweat BUT be aware of what you are consuming throughout the day and how it can impact your body while working in the heat. You may feel more comfortable by eating several smaller meals instead of a traditional breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout your day.

🤕REAL SAFETY STORIES - EPISODE 14: DOCK WORKER SQUISHED LIKE A BUG

“I was working on the docks in California. Me and my ship gang climbed down in the hold of the ship to unload tires about 2500 lbs and 10 to 12ft tall. When a barge passed our ship in the water causing our ship to roll enough for the tire to fall as I had just jumped down. So I didn't see it coming and the tire squished me like a bug.

I might be all over the place because of the braindamage but I know the most of it. It will be 4yrs April 15th, I was 34 hrs old, and had 16 yrs on the waterfront when it happened and I think I had 3 or 4 yrs working the hold of the ships doing general cargo like tires steel slabs, steel coils, loose pipe, bundle pipe and im sure I'm missing other stuff.

I'm not really sure what could have been done differently. I don't remember a whole lot from that night but maybe they could have flew us in with the crane.

I'm still fighting it in court too.

I had to have a muscle removal from my inner right thigh from my groin to my knee and a skin graph from my left thigh. They used both to put on my forehead to cover and fix that.

I've recovered better than any Dr. could have would have or has predicted.

The worst part of it all is my memory there's no rhyme or reason to what I remember and don't remember. For example my wife had to continually remind me that my dad was dead for the first couple yrs. Or I'd forget what i was doing in the middle of doing it and that still happens every now and then but i say things are getting better wife says they are to but slowly. So mentally it's mainly memory issues.

Physically my head leg and back scars are all numb. My back does hurt but nothing crazy considering. My leg will make me sit down sometimes. So I got the leg scar where they took the muscle and put on my forehead.

I also included the screws the put in my mouth I forgot to mention also the roof of my mouth was put back together because the roof of my mouth punch through so my my teeth if that makes sense. So the roof of my mouth had to be stitched back to my teeth.

My optic nerve was severed in the accident. I woke up one day and it was working again. I don't remember how long that took either.

It ripped me from my waist to my a**s. It hit me from behind and as I was falling the tire slid down ripping my backside off.

The way I see it is it happened and there's nothing I can do about it now. But maybe I can help someone somehow by sharing my story. Also to get some awareness out on how crooked the shipping companies, Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) even my union hasn't had my back. Yes I've had all my medical and everything taken care of and there's a few guys but im talking about the membership. From the president down nobody knows who i am or what happened and if they do nobodys called me. So if feel like its been me against the world. Get this the ILWU saying is an injury to one is an injury too all. Not from my experience.

The accident happened in Long Beach California. While working for a company that thinks I can just go back to work like nothing happened.”

🤕REAL SAFETY STORIES - EPISODE 13: LEAF CLEANUPS “I was 18 years old overseeing 4 guys doing leaf cleanups.

It was 7 pm everyone, was pi**ed and wanted to go home.

Those baggers on s**g tiger cats clog due to wet grass ect.

Mine was clogged so I shut the mower off removed shoot and reached in like I ALWAYS do, this time the belt still had tension on it, and when I removed the debris, the fan slipped and crushed my hand breaking 4 fingers.

The pictures you see are two surgery’s… all fingers healed great except the one you see, my middle finger was cut clean off, so they put pins in it, when they removed the pins, my bone shifted and broke a week later, now i have 2 plates and 8 screws in my hand and can never straighten it again.

I had 2 years experience at the time, shouldn’t have been rushing, I should have taken my time and used something to unclog the bagger.”

🛴MATERIAL HANDLING - DO NOT RIDE PALLET JACKS: Do NOT Ride on the Forks of a Pallet Jack OR allow others to be Carried - do NOT Stand on a Pallet Jack.

➰Pallet Jacks (OR PALLET TRUCKS) ARE used in MANY Industrial, Warehouse, Wholesale AND Big-Box Retail Facilities - most Incidents involve the Improper USE of Pallet Jacks due to Lack of Training.

👨‍🏫Do NOT Operate a Pallet Jack UNLESS you ARE Trained, AND Authorized.

🔎Inspect BEFORE each USE - Wheels, Forks, Fluid Leaks, Controls, Handles, Levers, and Horns.

🥾Wear your PPE - Gloves, Safety Boots/Shoes, Lumbar Support, etc.

⚖️Know the Maximum Load Limit of the Pallet Jack you ARE Operating - NEVER Overload a Pallet Jack.

📚Ensure Loads ARE Stacked evenly on the Forks BEFORE Moving the Pallet Jack.

🧐Inspect the Floors where the Pallet Jack will be Driven to ensure the path is clear.

⬇️Keep Loads as close to the Ground as possible for Transport.

⚠️Operate the Pallet Jack at a Safe Speed - Start Moving Slowly AND come to a Stop Slowly.

➖Do NOT Steer Pallet Jacks onto uneven surfaces AND avoid Steep inclines.

🦵🏼WHEN possible, Push Pallet Jacks during Transport - Pulling MAY Allow better Maneuverability BUT puts considerable Strain on the Back - Pushing uses stronger Leg Muscles AND keeps the Back straight.

🛑NEVER Try to Stop a Pallet Jack with Hands OR Feet, this COULD cause serious Injury, especially with a very Heavy Load.

🚶‍♂️WHEN NOT in USE, Pallet Jacks SHOULD be Rolled into an Area that does NOT have Pedestrian Traffic.

🧯Do NOT Store Pallet Jacks in ANY Area where they Block Fire Extinguishers, Emergency Equipment OR ANY Exits.

🚗Park unused Pallet Jacks on a level surface, with the forks lowered.
