Charlie Chaplin, the most famous comedian in the history of cinema, once said:
āWhen I was a child, I went with my father to watch a circus show. We stood in a long line to buy tickets, and in front of us was a family with six children, along with their mother and father. Poverty was evident in their appearanceātheir clothes were old but clean. The children were very excited, talking enthusiastically about the circus. When it was their turn, the father approached the ticket window and asked about the price of the tickets. After the ticket seller told him the price, the father hesitated and began whispering to his wife, with embarrassment showing on his face.
I saw my father take out twenty dollars from his pocket, drop it on the ground, then bend down to pick it up. He placed his hand on the manās shoulder and said, āYou dropped your money.ā
The man looked at my father with tears in his eyes and said, āThank you, sir!ā
After they entered, my father took my hand, and we stepped out of the line because he didnāt have more than the twenty dollars he had just given the man.
From that day on, Iāve been proud of my father. That moment was the most beautiful show Iāve ever seen in my lifeāfar more beautiful than the circus show I never got to watch!ā
