The Bottom Line:

Severe thunderstorms are possible in our area on Wednesday afternoon and evening. The main threat is centered around the Texas Panhandle, southeast Kansas, back down into Central Oklahoma. Yes, Canadian County, including El Reno, is under a SLIGHT RISK (2/5) for severe weather. Please stay informed and prepared for changing weather conditions beginning tomorrow evening into the overnight hours.

If interested, here is the longer discussion:

A cold front moving southward will bring the risk of thunderstorms across parts of Central Oklahoma including Canadian County. The storms are expected to begin forming late Wednesday afternoon and continue into the evening. The primary areas of concern are the Texas Panhandle, Southeast Kansas and Central Oklahoma. As indicated by the yellow "Slight Risk" area on the map. Canadian County is included in the slight risk risk zone, highlighted in Yellow, meaning there is potential for severe weather.

These storms could produce large hail and strong winds capable of causing damage. While the likelihood of tornadoes is lower, isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out. Warm and humid conditions will prevail, contributing to thunderstorm development, with strong winds in the upper atmosphere supporting the development and maturity of severe storms during the overnight hours into early Thursday morning.
