📚✨ Meet Glenn Leist
If you ever took biology, math, or applied physics at Okmulgee High School from the mid-1980s through the late 2010s, chances are you remember Glenn Leist.

Leist dedicated 37 years to teaching in Okmulgee, shaping generations of students both inside and outside the classroom. Beyond the school day, he quietly helped others find a path forward by teaching GED and adult education classes in Henryetta and at the Okmulgee middle school — opening doors for students who needed a second chance at education.

🚒🔥 OFD Holds Traditional Push-In Ceremony 🔥🚒

The Okmulgee Fire Department proudly welcomed a new engine into service during a traditional “push-in” ceremony at Fire Station No. 2 on E. 8th Street—marking a significant investment in public safety for the city.

Community members and local officials gathered as Chief Dewayne Hurt and OFD firefighters formally ushered the new 2025 Engine 1 into its bay, reviving a tradition dating back to the 1800s when crews pushed horse-drawn fire carts back into the station after calls.

The new engine carries 1,000 gallons of water, pumps 1,500 gallons per minute, and is fully equipped with rescue tools. During the ceremony, Mayor Mickey Baldwin offered a prayer that the engine would serve as a “chariot of hope” for residents in crisis.

🩸🚨 OBI Urges Type O Blood Donations 🚨🩸

Our Blood Institute (OBI) is issuing an urgent call for Type O blood donors, as supplies of both O-positive and O-negative blood remain at critically low levels following the holiday season.

Type O blood is vital in emergency medicine. O-positive donors, often called “Gold Donors,” provide blood commonly used on ambulances and medical helicopters for immediate transfusions during traumatic emergencies—often within the crucial “golden hour” when lives are on the line.
