Graduating from USF with a Marketing degree in 1996, Mike took an interest to the internet and website design. Being a weather fan his entire life and living through Florida's active 2004 season, Mike created a weather website to make tracking the tropics easy. Joining Facebook in 2009, his audience has expanded globally now reaching over a million followers with his website becoming the 'one stop

shop for tropics'. Mike's Weather Page has been accredited by NOAA, the NWS, FEMA, the Hurricane Hunters, local meteorologists, the Weather Channel, Government officials, and even his own hometown Pinellas county EOC. Mike just recently won the 2021 Governor's Hurricane Conference Tropical Meteorology award. Mike is not a meteorologist. He frequently reminds people of this and refers the NWS/NHC for official information and forecasts.

Overnight ensembles and some afternoon runs hinting couple spots first week of August. NOAA showing the Gulf/Atlantic area already. This looks to be a third wraparound setup like we had with Invest 93 and the current yellow spot. And looks like a Tropical Wave might have a chance as it nears the Caribbean around the same time frame. Nothing solid on these or anything to worry about. I just like to look long-range and point out areas that are consistently showing idea. MJO in the scene. www.spaghettimodels.com

Florida snow. Six months ago. One of my most memorable weather 'events' no doubt. Was tracking idea a week or so leading up to it. Decided to head to Tallahassee. Didn't have time to go much farther west. Plus I didn't want to get stranded. No one was covering this area so took the gamble. Waited it out at FSU. Started seeing more and more students out and about. Many noticed the Storm Chaser. Many came over to say hi. Share the excitement. Share the same question 'when is it going to snow Mike?'. Had a few flakes but mainly it was just rain. Started to doubt my decision around 9pm. Went to eat dinner at Ale House. Glued to radar. Wondering. Will the line inch any more east. Had someone tap me on the shoulder. A Tampa Bay area family came to see snow for their first time based on my journey to the same area. Little kids with gloves and hats on. All ready for their snow adventure. Then I felt real bad. But then it happened. The snow came. And it came in fast. For most the night. Drove around and filmed. Saw so many students out enjoying this rare experience. Had many thank me. Saying it was 'their best experience ever'. It was awesome. Met another couple from Pinellas that went and saw their first snow ever. Throwing snowballs. Laughing in a park. The next AM was even more magical. Snow and ice covered everything. The air was so crisp. The sky so blue. Just enjoyed every minute. Watching everyone else too. It was so inspiring to bring a different side of weather 'chasing' and see the younger generation making these memories. Still brings a smile to my heart thinking about that trip.

Seeing the Tropics from current winds is neat. Lower level winds (left) shows the basic idea of 'low pressure' formation. Winds race up from the south to meet frontal line winds from the NE. If shear relaxes we sometimes get development from this lower level 'spinnage'. Current upper winds (right) are the steering mechanism pushing 'whatever' into the Gulf the next couple days. Overall development on this one is low. NHC giving it 10%. Most models agree. But always watching any low pressure in the Gulf during the season regardless. www.spaghettimodels.com

Latest EURO ensemble blend on this weeks Gulf juice. TD chances top. TS chances bottom. Similar situation as last week. Low pressure area sliding west from old front. Land proximity and time two of the hurdles to overcome. Most models not showing development. But always keeping a watch on these things real-time this time of year. www.spaghettimodels.com
