Randolph residents celebrated their town’s past, present and future this weekend at the Bicentennial Weekend Festival. Presented by the RACDC at Weeden Park, Saturday’s event brought the town’s bygone days to life with a weekend of history, entertainment and family fun. There were contests, free children’s activities, a chicken barbecue, live music and fireworks. A community hymn sing and an ice cream social was held Sunday at the East Randolph Methodist Church.

Performances of Disney’s “Frozen: The Broadway Musical” begin Friday at the Ray Evans Seneca Theater and run through Sunday, Aug. 16. Presented by the Cattaraugus County Living Arts Association, it is the first full-length production of the Broadway musical in the region. Tickets are $15 for general admission, $10 for ages 10 and under. The Press spoke with director Tony Bump and choreographer Maria Wheeler in an exclusive interview earlier this week. As the Cattaraugus County Fair kicked off this weekend, there was plenty of action and competition taking place at the 4-H arenas and grandstand. Sunday afternoon was all about horses, hogs and goats, while the evening was filled with thrills presented by the Black Cat Hell Drivers stunt show. More photos can be seen on salamancapress.com.

Residents and visitors are invited to join “Salamanca Night Out” at Jefferson Street Park on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Hosted by the City of Salamanca, the free community event will bring the community together for an evening of family fun, while providing an opportunity to meet members of the Salamanca Police Department and Salamanca Fire Department. Opening day of the 183rd annual Cattaraugus County Fair is less than 48 hours away. The fair is scheduled to run this Saturday, Aug. 1, through next Saturday, Aug. 8. The “big guns” this year are Dylan Scott and opening act Highway Home, who will take the Grandstand stage Tuesday night, while Sammy Kershaw and opener John Foster are set to country-rock the fairgrounds Wednesday night. Crews were out earlier this week setting up vendor booths, amusement rides and grounds entertainment at the fairgrounds in Little Valley. Daily schedule and ticket information available at cattarauguscofair.com.
