2020 graduates- some news

Hello Graduates,
We have been able to work with our regalia supplier and you may now order your cap and gown!
If you want to receive your caps and gowns by the end of May for pictures or family celebrations, you can order through the bookstore until Thursday, May 14, at 4:00 pm. Please call the bookstore at 269.749.7394 to place your order. The cost will be $30, which is due when your order is placed.

Olivet College will then send your packaged cap and gown to the address you indicate.

If you would prefer, you may wait to order gowns prior to the on-campus celebration, which will be scheduled later when it’s safe to gather together. You will be notified at a later point when these orders can be made.

If you have more questions, let us know. Congratulations once again,
Your Senior Advisors

Go Future Comet!

Who says you have to be in isolation while signing your National Letter of Intent during quarantine?

Waverly High School's Kaylee Ellis was surprised, to say the least, when all of her friends drove by today to watch her sign to play soccer at Olivet College. Kudos to her parents for pulling this off!

An online opportunity.

The Gamma Iota Sigma chapter at Olivet College is hosting a Virtual Career Fair on Wednesday, April 15th from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

Any employer is invited to participate and there is no cost. Even if you don’t have employment or an internship available at the moment, this would be an excellent chance to expose students to your company and create relationships for opportunities in the future. All Olivet College students are encouraged to participate.

To register as an employer, follow this link https://app.brazenconnect.com/a/GIS/e/XMzqO/exhibitors

Once you have registered your company, you will receive an email from Brazen (the platform they are using) to login, configure your booth and register yourself and/or others from your organization as participants.

It’s that easy, and free!

Fenton man producing COVID-19 protective gear amid supply shortage

Helping the Cause
Junior Donald Doyle's family is helping to produce hundreds of personal protective equipment supplies for hospitals and other medical facilities around the country.
Doyle's father is using his technical expertise and military connections to get the products shipped as fast as they are being produced, by about a dozen 3D printers.
Family and friends are donating time and talents, but funding for the work is being solicited. Doyle's sister has arranged a go fund me to help us get production going.
Attached is a link to the go fund me campaign and a news article that was written by a local news station.

Safety equipment for healthcare professionals is falling short and with the coronavirus continuing to surge. Now, one Fenton man is producing ventilator filters and protective shields to help out.

FYI
FYI
The current attack on journalism has invigorated my drive for it all over again. I ultimately got out of journalism because I felt it was all becoming "opinion". But seeing it under attack really makes me want to go out and report the TRUTH. I hope all the current journalism students have the drive that I felt in 2001, which is the same drive I feel right now. Good luck students.
