243 acres outside Miami-Dade's Urban Development Boundary. 162 acres of wetlands. 158 net developable acres. That is what Kelly Tractor Company wants to convert into a 2.7 million square foot industrial complex.
County staff recommended denial. Mayor Daniella Levine Cava vetoed the ordinance. But the Board of County Commissioners adopted it anyway with 9 votes. The veto override remains blocked. The next critical date is July 21, 2026.
What the official record documents: the site is active habitat for wood stork, Everglade snail kite, apple snail, Florida bonneted bat, Florida panther, little blue heron, reddish egret, roseate spoonbill, and tricolored heron. Among them are species with local, state, and federal protection.
